Adam Normandin

Adam Normandin, born in 1965 in Hempstead, New York, is a Los Angeles-based contemporary realist artist whose detailed paintings of rustic freight trains often sprayed with graffiti offer a glimpse into the lesser-explored aspects of American life. The contents of these steel mammoths are unknown, offering a mysterious trait to each composition. Drawn to subjects that have been neglected or forgotten with time, the artist often risks life and limb traversing train yards to seek out the source images for these paintings, finding value in what is overlooked. Juxtaposing the rigidity of freight trains with the gentle curves and color of graffiti, Normandin’s paintings capture the speed of these freight trains in motion.
