Archimede Seguso Glassworks

Archimede Seguso (1909 – 1999) was born on the island of Murano in Venice, Italy. Born into a family of glass workers, he began working with glass at a young age, developing his skills by reworking glasswork from the 18th century. Seguso distinguished himself by the age of 20 with new techniques and impressive skills, working in this early period with very heavy glass and massive sculptures, some of which were presented at the Venice Biennial before World War II. In 1946, Seguso founded his own studio, Archimede Seguso Glassworks.
