César Galicia

César Galicia was born in 1957 in Madrid, Spain. He studied at the San Fernando Fine Arts School in Madrid, graduating in 1979. He continued to study painting privately in the United States starting in 1981 and began showing in New York at the Staempfli Gallery in 1985. He was included in the important Spanish Realism exhibition alongside Claudio Bravo and Antonio Lopez Garcia at the Staempfli Gallery in 1989. In 1992, he was awarded the Sirena del Mediterranean Prize by the Italian Ministry of Culture. Galicia has exhibited at Galerie Guereta in Madrid, with work included in exhibitions at the Arkansas Art Center in Little Rock, Arkansas; the Arnot Art Museum in Elmira, New York; the Albright Knox Gallery in Buffalo, New York; and other galleries. Galicia’s paintings are included in numerous collections such as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago Illinois; the Museo de Arte Moderno in Mexico City; the Albright Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York; and the Pennsylvania Museum.
